Deltoid are the latest Coventry-based band to throw their metaphorical hat in the ring in the search for
that all elusive fame and fortune.
Currenty a three piece, the band are seeking a locally-based drummer to complete the line-up.
Qualities required: a) must be good, and b) must have a GSOH.
Present members are Louise McCarthy (vox/keyboards/guitars, age: 23), Andy Bold (lead
guitars, age: 24) and Jon Howells (bass/sequencing/guitars, age: 23). Jon and Louise
previously played in South Wales bands Indigo Bubble and Easy Friday. The met Andy through their love of
one band in particular - Mansun - and Deltoid were born.
The band's other influences are extremely diverse, ranging from Air to Joy Division to Janet Jackson.
"We're currently listening to stuff like Destiny's Child and Linkin Park," says Louise. "I think Andy's
going through a bit if a new wave phase, he's listening to a lot of XTC lately. Oh, and Euphoria
trance albums..."
"I don't want to use a whole load of adjectives like 'quality' or 'powerful' or 'mysterious' to describe
our music," continues Louise. "I want other people to hear out tracks and say what they think instead."
Deltoid have just completed their first demo - The Hybrid 3 EP - which features tracks "Why Don't You",
"After My Own Heart" and "Overture to a Revolution". Copies are available on request from the band.
"The plan is to hopefully meet a drummer, go into the rehearsal studios, get some gigs booked...and see
where it goes from there," concludes Louise. "I wouldn't completely rule out world domination." Watch
this space...
