Introducing 20 Dead Camels

Simon Magee - Lead Vocals / Harmonica
Malcolm Chance - Backing Vocals
Cliff Cummings - Rhythm / Lead Guitar
Mark Fensome - Bass Guitar
Doug Carey - Keyboards / Piano
Keith Morris - Drums / Percussion
Andy Coletta - Saxophone

Having formed June 1999, 20 Dead Camels have already proved themselves as a great live act! Their unique blend of "Ska blues" has seen them cross over to a wider audience. Whilst playing extensively across the south of England, 20 Dead Camels have built up a lot of support and are now looking to take it to the next step.
"It’s fun music - That’s it" says Mark
"Everybody wants to get involved and that’s great for us" says Cliff who is one of the founder members. Don’t get us wrong, we are serious about the music, but we’re not interested in politics. That’s Right!

20 Dead Camels are more than the sum of the parts, there’s a chemistry live that you don’t see anymore - It’s a party! Ask anyone who saw them on their recent mini tour supporting well known acts as The Selecter and Bad Manners, and also at their own sell out gig at The Rock Garden in London. 20 Dead Camels have a sound of their own, as their three track CD revealed! Engineered by Derek Fudge, who has previously worked with Robbie Williams and currently with Coldplay. The music sounds fresh and catchy in the true tradition of British pop music, but with a twist, they cut it live!

OK, I hear you say, why should we believe all this?

The answer is simple, Don’t : Come and see for yourself, get hold of a copy of the CD.

The Rodriguez Guest Project

The Rodriguez Guest Project formed during the early part of 2000.

The radical new concept behind the band was to break away from the conventions of traditional song writing, by using several guest musicians to play on & contribute to a core set of songs that the band had already written.

The band's first album contains 12 tracks & was recorded during a live session at the Square in Harlow and features special guests players on keyboards, hammond and accordeon.

Calling all budding musicians: The Rodriguez Guest Project are running a jam night at The Barge Pub, Folly Island, in Hertford every Tuesday. Come along and jam with the band, or (if you are brave enough), take up the challenge to perform one of your own songs in our floor spot section

For up to date information on the band check out www.rodriguezguest.com

Crosley tours London

No Label? No Problem. Cincinnati Pop Band Heads Overseas.

"Label? We don’t need no stinking label," jokes Joel Knueven before taking the stage at Southgate House. That’s the typical response when Crosley’s bass player is asked about label support. "Seriously" It would make life easier. But we don’t want to wait around when we can make it happen ourselves."

The "do-it-yourself" mentality of Crosley has a lot to do with the bands quick rise in the Cincinnati music scene. That and the catchy pop/rock songs they write. "We’ve got a new song we’re going to debut tonight," says the normally quiet Paul DeNu. "It’s two minutes of adrenaline. I can’t wait to play it."
Moments later, the lights come up and the band tears into "Ride". A fitting song as they get ready to go to London.

"Crosley’s history can get a little confusing," says Vince. "So here is the abridged version." Crosley’s singer takes a deep breath and begins a well-rehearsed monologue. It’s obvious this isn’t the first time he’s been asked this question.
"Joel and I played in a cover band and knew Bill who played in an all-original band. Our band broke up and Bill was asked to leave his band. After about a year (August 1999), the three of us got together and started to write music. Bill wanted us to remain a power trio, but Joel and I knew Paul and thought he would help round out the band. A few months later (December 1999), we played our first gig and began recording our first EP."

"We were very pleased with our first EP," says Bill. "It defined our sound and helped us get a jump on the scene. We immediately started getting airplay around town and were invited to play Cincinnati’s biggest musical events. It also helped us prepare for our full-length CD."

"That and the week at the cabin," interjects Paul. Each member of Crosley starts to laugh and inside jokes begin to fly. After a few minutes, Paul continues, "During the summer, we rented a cabin in the ‘middle-of-no-where’ Indiana. We hung out, drank beer and worked on music. We had a great time and took all that positive energy into the studio. I think that energy comes across on ‘Off The Laundry" and makes it a great CD."

The band is: Vince Knueven (vocals, rhythm guitar), Paul DeNu (lead guitar), Joel Knueven (bass), Bill Donabedian (drums, backup vocals).
Crosley Influences: Beatles, Jeff Buckley, Crowded House, Bob Dylan, Fountains of Wayne, Gin Blossoms, Guster, Jayhawks, Jellyfish, Radiohead, Replacements, Wilco and XTC.
