NEW EP FROM OLIO

We are proud to announce the release of the new Olio EP titled "3P." A lot of time and care went into the recording and production of the songs. The songs are "Erotic", "Love You I Do" and "One Thing." This CD marks the first studio release by Olio. The rich, dynamic production beautifully accents the songwriting. We had a lot fun growing with our sound and creating music that gives us chills when we listen to it. We urge you to check it out.

Currently, 3P is available only at Olio's website and can be purchased for $6 by visiting http://www.o-l-i-o.com. We thank you in advance for previewing the new CD, reading the lyrics and buying 3P. Your support is greatly appreciated.

ALSO, take advantage of our special Olio 2 Pack, 3 Pack and 4 Pack offers. Increase your Olio collection and save money while you do it. Visit the website for details.

CALL ME ALICE WIN AWARD

Call Me Alice, a San Diego based rock band was awarded a Critic's Choice Award in the Musician's Friend/Hitsquad.com 2001 - A Musician's Odyssey Contest. Out of hundreds of entries the CMA's song, "Bald", struck the judging panel as having the best potential and accessibility to a wide audience. Recording quality was an important criteria as well in the selection process. The panel stated that the band's "dark rock song has a lot going for it in terms of arrangement, dynamics and power." Call Me Alice will receive a $500 gift certificate from Musician's Friend as a prize.

JOHNNY PHILKO UPDATE

Johnny Philko had our 1st Annual 4th of July Celebration this year. We kept it small for the 1st one, only having close friends and family at the party. Approx. 30 people attended and had a great time. We had beer, pop, steaks, beer, hot dogs, beer, hamburgers, beer, and all sorts of other foods, along with plenty of Rock 'n' Roll!

Next year we plan on taking it up a notch, and inviting up tp 5 - 10 other all original bands to participate it the celebration. If you know of any bands, or if you are in a band that will be passing through the Cleveland, Ohio area next 4th of July, let us know if you would be interested. Check out our web site for some pics of the festivities this year. http://www.JohnnyPhilko.com

I would also like to remind everyone the we will be performing at the Maple Grove Tavern in Maple Heights, this Sat. July 14. We will be playing, along with Blunt, and Figure of Speech. The Maple Grove is a great place, and we have a great time when we are there! So stop on in and say hi!

A splendid time is guaranteed for all.

Our new homepage is located at: http://www.JohnnyPhilko.com

Please stop by, check it out and say hello and sign the guest book! We have added some sound clips, and pics, we hope you enjoy them. The site is new and under construction, we welcome comments

JOHNNY J BLAIR

Several people have written asking why Johnny isn't on the road with current The Monkees tour (which has been quietly successful). He explains, "My work with David Jones has always been in production, archiving and being (what he calls) a 'creative liaison.' I've never been a full-time member of Davy Jones' road band. With the Monkees you add Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork to the mix and this introduces a whole 'nother level of management and personnel. There's a pecking order and they reach for loyal musicians who are most able to commit to the rigors of touring. I pinch hit for Davy on select gigs and I'm in touch with the creative dynamics of the overall 'Monkees' machine', but I can't do everything. There's enough work for everyone. I'm more of a 'studio animal' anyway, and even David said I should be out there gigging on my own and promoting my music."

July is light for live engagements because Johnny *has* to get caught up on studio obligations. He's squeezing in "open mics" and odd bookings until mid-August.

In May he played an enjoyable swing of venues through New England (where he spent time with his mother in Providence RI) and then to a flurry of shows in central PA. At the Juneteenth Festival (June 16th) he performed with a full band: Chris Anderson (drums), Rich Kanan (bass) and vocal backing by Cassie, Monette and (last minute recruit) Colleen Slocum. Chris and Rich were "beamed in" from Detriot and Johnny hopes to work with them again.

JJB's next release, EXOTIC ANIMALS AND BEACHES OF PENNSYLVANIA, has been mastered and is awaiting cover art. Award-wining "comic book artist" Chris Yambar has been commissioned for that chore. EXOTIC ANIMALS... is a compilation of remastered older recordings (1990 to current), outtakes, edit-remixes from FIRE and two new songs. The title cut is a collaboration w/Davy Jones and a string quartet from Moscow (the city in Russia; not the town in PA). Details forthcoming.
