Opening the show with The Chariot. One of our more epic and "on the edge" tunes.
The audience loved it - we think you will too.
Mark your calendars: 9/10/01 ...on Monday go to: http://www.mp3.com/phreeworld
Also - look for more tracks from this concert and a video in the coming weeks!
A late report about the Vision Festival appearance in July--Adrienne
Blanton, JJB and Monette Newsuan turned in good sets and everyone thought
it was the best Vision ever! Monette was interviewed for a web-TV broadcast
(go to: http://www.christcenteredrecords.com) and Adrienne and her singing
daughter Aliesha were interviewed on REV-FM radio (State College PA).
In August Johnny did a mega-three sets on the streets of Williamsport for
the First Friday celebration. It was hot and humid w/sweat dripping over
the guitars, but some people hung in there for all the sets (thank you)! He
was accompanied by percussionist Rod Bower, who pounded out 95% of the
songs despite having a fractured finger from a recent accident.
JJB swung out to western Michigan and back for a round of dates. He played
twice at the Hastings Summerfest (near Battle Creek/Kalamazoo MI). Weather
dampened the crowd a bit, but many brought umbrellas and hung in there for
the duration. Later Johnny gave a 30 minute cable television interview with
impresario Steve Reid. Johnny says, "Steve is a swell guy and a constant
encouragement. He has this amazing memory for events and creative ideas. I
hope to we can work together again."
As always, Johnny had a good time stopping off in Edinboro PA for an
outdoor concert (sponsored by Crossroads Community Church), scenically set
by a lake (one can almost hear an Eric Idle voice poeticizing about boats,
ducks and...bats). The event was co-promoted by WCTL-FM radio.
September is light for live engagements as Johnny will be concentrating on
studio chores. He's squeezing in "open mics" and odd bookings until
October--which has bookings in and out of PA (including Don Hess CD release
party later in the month).
Our debut single GOOD LUCK OLIVIA is released on NYC/PINNACLE RECORDS on November 5th, and will be available in all reasonable record shops... featuring THE DARK STUFF and INTO THE FIRE, you can obtain it for one english pound and ninety nine english pence...
rumours that we may be going head to head with Michael Jackson's new single are impossible to confirm at present, since Jackson, coward that he is, is refusing to confirm his release date... our hand is on the table, Michael... it seems the game is on the other foot now, eh?
