Anonymous Groove Showcase
Thursday 15th November
9pm-2am
The Wardrobe
Leeds
Anonymous Groove is hosting another showcase of its Yorkshire based talent
at The Wardrobe in Leeds on Thursday 15th November. The Showcase will
feature five of the best Anonymous Groove acts, who will be merging their
sets to create a non-stop three hour long showcase of the best live music in
the North. Bands performing on the night include:
Mahwa - funk and reggae grooves, a dirty rhythmical shakedown
Poncho (the young businessman of the year) - musical fantasies made real in
this menagerie of havana horns, funky bass face and barbershop vocal
harmonies
Oslanki - live electronic vibes with bass, drums, guitar, keys, sax, dj, and
mc layed over experimental sequences
Formidable Charlton - time travelling and telepathic, a gathering of
grooving vampires rock the galaxy, entertain and communicate a higher
purpose. This is the birth of sci-funk
Kato - a mix of powerful bass-end dub with hip-hop roots and psychedelic
guitar
The evening will also showcase the talents of our visuals and performance
team, incorporating slide and video imaging and invisible theatre bringing
the atmosphere of club culture to the event, ensuring a showcase of the
highest standard in both performance and entertainment.
Anonymous Groove works as a collective of some of the best talent around and
its Showcase events aim to bring attention to the quality of live
performance that is currently available. Drawing on Musicians and artists
from some of the top arts colleges around the country (Bretton Hall, Leeds
College of Music, Dartington College of Arts, Salford University), Anonymous
Groove brings the talents of a large creative community together.

Acacia Avenue
Sheffield pop-punksters acacia avenue played an away game in London [recently] and beat 3 local bands at The Fountain Music Venue’s Battle of The Bands. Home advantage and a good crowd of their own supporters could not win the game for the cheeky cockney chappies who were outplayed and outclassed by this team of Sheffield’s finest.
Mike Lumb (drums/defence) kept it tight at the back and gave his team-mates room to play. John Hague (guitar/midfield) dominated the game while the superior finishing of James Fox (bass/striker) rounded off a wonderful team performance.
Big Bazzer (acacia avenue fan) said ‘I follow the lads home and away and to see them beat the opposition in their own backyard was just brilliant. Can’t wait to see who we get in the next round’.
That next round will be played in January, away in London again, with date and opposition yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, back in the league, acacia avenue play Sheffield Uni Thurs Oct 25th and Leeds HiFi Club Tues Oct 30th
