Nine24

Chicago based rockers, Nine24, serve up old school rock-n-roll flavor with their sophomore release, “6-Pack”. Following in the innuendo of arena rockers Van Halen and Aerosmith, Nine24 delivers a solid performance and continues to put the fun back in rock-n-roll. Nine24’s “6-Pack” is their debut on Kivel Records, and takes the attitude introduced on their independently released CD “Five Bucks A Cup” to the next level.

Nine24 had established a name for themselves in indie rock circles with “Five Bucks A Cup” just a few years ago as a no frills, party rock band. The album reminded everyone that rock-n-roll was simply about taking a break from life’s little miseries, throwing on some tunes, grabbing a beer, and having a good time. What really makes Nine24 shine was the personality that comes through in their music. Their infectious “live hard, rock hard” attitude that has sorely missed in the music of the last decade was a welcome change to their steadily growing group of followers. That attitude has been amplified tenfold on their upcoming release “6-Pack”. Nine24 has honed their songwriting skills to match their stellar musicianship and is ready to make everyone else true rock-n-roll believers. The band consists of vocalist Phil Baranchik, guitarist Chris Riccardo, and bassist Tim Bradley. Nine24 rounded out the line-up on “6-Pack” by adding Harmony Riley drummer, and son of Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, Daxx Nielsen to complete their powerhouse sound. The strength of this chemistry is evident throughout the album in songs like “Pleasure Ride”, “Temple Of Insanity”, and “Feel The Burn”.

For “6-Pack”, Nine24 sought the best talent they could find to bring their rock-n-roll wet dream to life. The album was recorded in Rockford, Illinois at The Noise Chamber and produced by Jimmy Johnson and engineered by Fast Eddie Dulian in early 2001. Jimmy is best known for his work with Cheap Trick and Hollywood Records Artists, The Pimps. To visually match the energy and attitude of the music, Nine24 hired award winning art director Stephen Jensen of F3 Design to conceptualize the album packaging and matching website. Adding to the team of professional creatives was Cheap Trick photographer, Mike Graham, and providing the cover eye candy was model and Penthouse Pet, Alex Arden.

With the album now completely wrapped up, Nine24 is preparing to unveil it’s masterpiece to the world. On Tuesday, March 5th, 2002, the album “6-Pack” and the band’s new website (www.Nine24.com) will be released.

Face Tomorrow

At the beginning of this month we released a three-song single for 'Worth the Wait'. Check out our site for ordering information. But I advise you to be quick, because we only pressed 500 copies of which 400 have already been sold at shows! We've got good reactions on the cd and it has been played from time to time on (inter)national radio. (Studio Brussel, Kink FM, Radio 3)

We're also working on a video clip for the song. We recorded some live footage in de Koornbeurs in Delft last month and everything went great, so thanx to everyone who helped us out in making this possible! We're still recording some other shots and there's some animation that has yet to be finished. So don't expect the video to be ready earlier than March.

If you want to hear what I'm talking about, download the titletrack directly from our site; www.facetomorrow.net (and make sure you bookmark the damn thing ;-))

Like I said, we released Worth the Wait ourselves as a single. And it's one of the songs we recorded for "For Who You Are", our debut full length. All recordings have been finished now and all that's left to do is a little mixing and mastering. We still haven't got a clue on how we are gonna release this album, so I can't give you a releasedate yet. Releasing it ourselves again will be pretty difficult, because we barely have the money to pay for the recordings. We'll see....

Jon Dean Foster

Jon Dean Foster a 6' 4" demolition man from Dorset knocked 'em dead at the UK Country Radio Awards held at the Lakeside Country Club Frimley Green. The awards which took place on Sunday 3rd Feb were attended by over 1500 people from all over the UK, Europe and the USA. BORN SURVIVOR Jon's debut album recorded in just 3 days won the two most coveted awards being ALBUM OF THE YEAR and HOT DISC TRACK OF THE YEAR. The winner of the awards are voted for by radio listeners and Jon couldn't believe how many people from all over the country voted for BORN SURVIVOR. Jon said "this is going to change my life completely, work has started to flood in and I am going to be very busy from now on". BORN SURVIVOR also reached number 1 in the European Air Play Charts late last year and Jon has been invited to go to Nashville later this year to record which is an amazing opportunity. One of Jon's earliest musical experiences was being thrown out of the school choir because he couldn't sing in tune, later he then formed a band where none of the members could play any instruments. Not a great start for someone who wanted to make a living out of music. Jon said " I am looking forward to hanging up my hard hat, going to Nashville and buying a horse". He has been approached by Granada TV to film for a programme which will be screened later this year. If that is not enough a new single from the album is generating considerable interest at BBC Radio 2 from none other than Bob Harris and Nick Barraclough.

The Sepia

The Sepia are currently playlisted on Belgium's premiere French national radio station, Radio 21!! Rudy Leonet has been playing 'Stutter' on his 'les 5 Heures' show. This has generated literally hundreds of enquiries, many of which asking when The Sepia will be back in Belgium...we hope to be able to answer this question very soon!

Scout International

Scout International is an Independent A and R company who showcases bands and individual artist demos on-line. SIL builds artists pages in an artistic and highly graphical manner that sets a new standard for the industry. Scout International has received feedback from labels large and small praising their services. SIL believes; if the artist is shown in a professional manner, it gives the artist along with the visitor something they will remember. SIL is trying to level the playing field so all artists are given an equal opportunity. They do not discriminate and are making an impact for their members as well as generating traffic to their site by contacting industry professionals and music lovers in general.

If you are a musician, dig into your pockets for some spare change every month and get the service you need and deserve. SIL’s membership fee is $29.95 per year. Yes that’s correct, only $ 29.95 per year. That breaks down to less than $2.50 per month or $.63 each per month for a typical 4-member band.

If you are label or industry professional, www.scoutinternational.com is a resource made to make your job easier (Don't worry, we won't tell your boss you found quality artists this easily).

The Dawn Parade

...been an eventful month, this one... thanks to everyone who made the gigs in Cambridge, Norwich, Bury and Ipswich special in the last fortnight... especially to Tom Blue Gandhi for saving our arses in Ipswich, and to Matt and Claire for being the bestest pals in the world... thanks to everyone who stuck their names on the mailing list, too... here's you penance...

sad stuff first... our guitarist, founder member and friend, Rob, left The Dawn Parade last Wednesday evening... it was a mutual thing; I'll spare you the standard crap about "musical differences"; the band just wasn't working anymore, and as cliched as it may be, the music has to come before anything... nobody was kicked out, and everyone's better friends for it... no replacement will be sought, because i) rob's irreplacable, and ii) we feel stronger as a four piece... thanks to everyone who's written in the last week, or offered support - especially Mark Hawkins, Claire, Mat, and Mel...

...here's Rob:
"I am no longer a part of the Parade, but I'm more myself than ever. Having left I can't help but feel that I haven't lost a band but got some very dear friends back. I have had a brilliant year and am at the end of a very steep learning curve with a lot of very fond memories."
