Here’s what NME said about headliners Rachel Stamp: “In a world populated by skatepunk pseudo-metal and frat boy fart-lighters Rachel Stamp are indeed a tonic. Older and wiser than many of their peers, this sex-Glam four-piece have used their influences to make a record that eschews the vagaries of the charts to deliver a classic rock masterclass.
Support on the Fat Surfer stage includes: Oceansize, Celeste, The Grove, Jacob, Moonjelly, Picklepuss, Revolution 45, The Lanes, The Wires, Inertia.
Biffy Clyro, recently back from touring with NME favourites Cooper Temple Clause, will be headlining the Maple stage. The band, signed to Beggars Banquet, are an aggressive popcore outfit from Glasgow, or thereabouts. Their new single '57' reached No 61 in the national singles' chart and number 9 in Kerrang!'s single chart, with the video gaining many plays on MTV2. Their long-awaited debut album 'Blackened Sky' was released in March.
Support on Maple stage: Hell is for Heroes, Bastion 4, Blubber, Giant, The Java Sea, Minx, Missin Link, Redwood, thisGIRL, Spankin Harry,
Vacant Stare, the Maidenhead crew, signed to Copro Records, have been receiving awesome reviews for their debut album "Vindication" which is on its fourth re-press in little over a month. (The only previous title to do this number in such little time on Copro Records, was earthtone9's 'arc tan gent'). The band has special guest slots on both American Head Charge and Skindred UK tours as well as headlining TMF 2002's metal/heavy rock stage, MusicTek.
Support: Skindred, Sugarcoma, Dury*falls (formerly Kilkus), Mr Shiraz, Cyrus, D:fi, Djevara, Keratose, Whoremoan, Kingcow, Nothing, The Seven Machine.
On Blues etc there will be the legendary American Bluesman Mississippi John L Watson together with the magnificent 7-strong Odyssey Blues Band. John L's music has its roots in the Gospel choirs of his native Mississippi, and in his 30-year career he's toured with BB King, Muddy Waters and Jimi Hendrix. Support: Zoltan Jump Jive, Elko Jones, Eqyptians, Jadegroove, Red Stripe Band, Jumpstart, Warblefly, Electric Sky, Reconsider, Midnight Special. This stage will have a global feel during the day with jazz and Irish music before settling down into a blues and soul mood in the evening.

Music book The Real Deal II is out and Dutch alt rock duo Red to Violet is in it. successful New York-writer Daylle Deanne Schwartz added several pages on Red to Violet and their indie label Commuse. like how this hyper active indie enterprise managed to make waves in US, while coming all the way from... Holland. indeed, the land of wooden shoes, windmills and Golden Earring. the title of this fascinating inside the music biz book is 'The Real Deal II, how to get signed to a record label' (publisher: billboard books), and is getting great reviews. like: 'I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to an artist in search of a record deal' (Jeffrey Cohen, publisher Music Biz Magazine). to get the music book, check your bookshop or order info at www.daylle.com

Late last year JJB was in Saturation Acres studio with 3/5ths of The
Badlees (a.k.a. The Cellarbirds) cutting a remake of "Sunday Morning" by
The Velvet Underground. The master was submitted to a record label set to
issue a Lou Reed tribute CD. Tentative release is September 2002.
The long-awaited Word 2 Soul Project (W2SP) is mastered and a relase date
is forthcoming. W2SP is a collaboration between JJB (produced, played most
of the instruments and sang) and lyricist-singer Amy Mintzer. "We're going
for the contemporary gospel/CCM jugular with this," says JJB. "Most of it
is bouncy and funky, but we also reached into orchestral and contemplative
moments." Guest vocalists on W2SP include Cassie Blair, Autumn Brown,
Lyanna Lusk, Dana Marshall, Monette Newsuan, Janice Todd, Alice Weiler &
Linda Wheatley + guitar cameos from Chris Bovard and Tim Breon.
ARMS OF KISMET ROLLS OUT 'CUCKOLD OF TITAN'
Arms of Kismet, purveyors of postmodern rock for the savvy, ironic streetcrawler, has launched "Cuckold of Titan," a rollicking paean to novelist Kurt Vonnegut. Drenched in the literately rootsy anti-pop of Cracker and Semisonic, "Cuckold" evokes The Band in a rare moment of ear-candied playfulness. Says Arms of Kismet's Mark Doyon, "Vonnegut did something no one else thought to do. People appreciated it, and then they forgot about it. Tastes change." The song traces Vonnegut's rise and fall as a lion of 20th century American letters, and rues the fickle, fast-fading affections of a public more interested in MTV than in cool books.

2002 is looking to be an exciting year for the band. There may not have
been any gigs over the last few weeks (their last live outing was
Elektrofest, which saw The Sepia play in front of a decent sized crowd) but
this is not due to a lack of offers. The trio have been taking some time
out from the live circuit to spend in the studio writing and finishing off a
truck load of new material and preparing it ready to bedazzle you all with
some new live gigs very soon.
The next series of gigs are still being arranged and confirmed but if you
can't wait to hear some of the new stuff you can get an idea of what is in
store as the 'Hear' page at the website now has a few 'work in progress'
tracks for you to listen to. Please note that these are not finished songs,
merely demos but you'll certainly get an indication of what is in store for
you soon (you lucky people!). Work in progress tracks online are:
Delirium - Ethereal feeling dreamscapes...
J35 (Demo) - Stomping Industrial tinnitus-fest...
No Permanence - Laid back Melodic Number
The Sepia are also writing more lyrics, moving gradually into vocal band
territory! (although it's gonna cost them more to get Jules drunk enough to
take to the front of the stage again!)
At last, now on-line at The Sepia website (www.the-sepia.co.uk) are the four
finished programs by UK film company Black Diamond which feature music by
The Sepia. you can view the clips by going to the 'see' section. These
programs on extreme sports have been already sold to Southern Star in the
continental US, and are going to be shown on various cable network channels
around the world!
This is the second compilation CD put out by REAL Promotions which will

These will then be sent out to A + R in Record Companies, Publishing,
Management, Agents, Venues, Promoters etc... many of which REAL Promotions
has built relationships with over the last 3 years.
Sheffield Unsigned 2001 was a success with many bands receiving A & R
interest and one in particular a management contract.
If you are interested in being featured on the CD, please goto
http://www.realpromo.co.uk and download an application form, print it out
and send it in with the material - (clearly labelled and only accepted on CD).
Material sent on any other format than CD cannot be considered. Only one
track will be considered for inclusion from each band / artist. All musical
styles are acceptable.
So the world keeps on turning, but our Joe Radovic
(Big Tuna on Guitar) has decided to take a year-long
sabbatical, effective immediate: to rest from burnout
on gigging, and to further develop his studio
recording skills. Though everyone who hears the Funky
Fish Band CD, which Joe engineered and produced, all
tend to agree: his professional recording skills are
already getting very well honed...
Joe plans to return to gigging with the Funky Fish
Band in the Spring of 2003.
In the mean time, he can be contacted at his First
Recording & Sound Project Studio in Warrenville,
Illinois, pager 630-255-3706 (like maybe you might
want to try to acquire our Raw Fish CD?). Or check
out our website to listen to our CD, with its great,
original Funky Fish songs, at http://www.funkyfishband.com
Also in the meantime, the rest of our crew (Broadway
Jack, Phil Sugarbone, and Big John) will continue to
gig around Chicago town but not as the Funky Fish
maybe as the Flying Fish? Or somebody said the
But again the world keeps on turning. We really,
greatly thank all of you, all you great folks...
brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, our illegitimate
daughters, in-laws, outlaws, friends, and everyone
else who came to our shows, partied and hung out with
us at all the clubs, festivals and parties we've
worked over these years. We (Joe, Phil, John & Jack)
all look forward to entertaining you all again, at
least in the not-too-distant future!
Joe says: Peace & Love!
Phil says: Ten And Two!
John says: *@#&! You!!
Jack says: Get A Haircut!
