ATLANTIS MUSIC CONFERENCE 2002

Atlanta, August 1-3, 2002.

Atlantis is hands down the best showcase to discover new talent in the country. Over 80% of the artists who play the event are unsigned. Since the inception of the event, we have had over 30 acts that have played Atlantis go on to sign record deals. Atlantis has also become the best platform in the Southeast for networking in the music industry. No matter what your position in the industry, Atlantis parties, panels and shows are more intimate and personalized than other comparible conferences in format.

When Atlantis throws a party, that's the only thing happening at that time, not 4 different events to choose from which dilutes attendee participation, and the parties themselves are unique. If you have never been to the Late Night Breakfast and Karaoke Party or the Atlantis Pool Party, you have missed a great time!

Atlantis panels run 3 at a time, each connected to the other, so valuable time is not wasted running floor to floor, building to building to get the most of 10 panels taking place at the same time and this year we are only showcasing 212 acts in 11 venues, keeping Atlantis consistent with its quality over quantity goal.

As we enter year five, we are trying to reach out to individuals to become more involved in our event. If you have careers or specific interest you think the conference can help further, we want to know that. The $165 registration deadline is July 26, 2002. Hotel rooms at the Sheraton are only $99. Most importantly, though, we want you to come to the event and experience Atlantis for yourself.

Please check out http://www.atlantismusic.com for more information on the event. If you have questions, feel free to call the Atlantis offices at 770-499-8600.

THE BARFLY SHEFFIELD MOVES TO A NEW VENUE

As many of you allready know the National Centre for Popular Music, which currently houses Barfly Sheffield will be closing down at the beginning of next week.

Barfly Sheffield has secured a new venue, which we can move into straight away. There is no need to worry about cancellations, all of the shows we currently have booked WILL BE GOING AHEAD!

The new venue is currently known as CLUB .ZERO. and is located a stones throw away from the current venue, on nearby, centrally located Matilda Street. Zero's facilities will be comparable with (and in most instances better than) our current facilities at the NCPM. Also, due to the design of the live room, it will be simple for us to accommodate shows anywhere from 100 to 500 capacity, from intimate sit down acoustic affairs to full on metal shows.

Should anyone have any further questions about the new venue, please feel free to email mikey@barflyclub.com and I'd be happy to help.

The Address of the new venue is:

14-16 Matilda Street, Sheffield, S1 4QD

jumpforjoy RELEASE NEW ALBUM

Well, we've done it. lovelife our brand spanking new opus is finished and available for delivery right to your frontdoor. It's been a year in the making and we think it sounds great, capturing the essence of j4j LIVE...'in studio form!'

To whet your appetite we've put a few FREE samples on the website www.jumpforfoy.info, so why not have a listen? 'Go on, what harm could it do?'
Don't just take our word for it though, check these reviews: It's You - It is a sublime track...it has an X-Factor edge to it...it sets the tone for the entire album...Lookout for jumpforjoy!!! - Adam Chetter - Talentstar.biz (UK)

What can I say apart from summer sounds better with jumpforjoy blasting out your stereo. These guys really know how to play their instruments...There was nothing that I didn't like about the music, and I think that just about everyone would like listening to it. - Pete Walker - Geniezone (UK)

Another new band from England! It really seems like there is no end to it and this band really can give you a good time as well!...they do have a bit of a California sound...a sort of Beach Boys thing where there is place for innovation like it was done by that other gorgeous band The Dandy Warhols... - Didier Becu - DreamsNeverEnd (Belgium)

'Now we're not Michael Jackson...we're jumpforjoy', but whilst he's upset with the bad deal he's getting off a certain major record label, not all of us have the luxury of owning our own themepark! So, don't be shy - be it online, mail order or high street shop, it couldn't be easier to get your hands on a copy. Just go to the STORE at www.jumpforjoy.info (note the new URL...don't forget to bookmark) for further details

THE SEPIA

As mentioned before, the band are now confirmed for 2 European dates, both festivals! First up is the Trenchtown Music festival, Lake Palic, Subotica, Yugoslavia on 23rd August 2002, onstage time approximately 11.00pm (not midnight as previously reported!). More details are soon to be announced on www.trenchtown.org

The second date is the Dark Nation festival in Vienna, Austria, on 1st November 2002. Onstage times are not confirmed as yet, but soon will be! Any fans in the area, come on down!

Keep your eyes glued to http://dnd.walaskialf.com for developments as they happen, and to buy tickets for the event!

A third European appearance in Lithuania had to be aborted due to commitments to one of the other festivals, but the band may confirm to appear next spring, more details ASAP, etc, etc...as usual!

As I've said before, the band have been locked away in the studio since Elektrofest 2002, and judging by some of the snips of new stuff I've heard, they're going from strength to strength, even if they've nearly killed each other in the process! Keep a watchful eye on the website for some new out-takes and tasty previews to come soon....and who knows, the 'fabled' (to coin a recent phrase) Sepia album might be at last on the horizon!

THE REBIRTH OF RATCAGE RECORDS

Ratcage began life in 1980 in Manhattan's lower east side. We were street punks who managed to get ourselves a storefront . It wasn't long before we decided to start putting out records by the local bands. Our second release was Polly Wog Stew by the Beastie Boys. Ratcage also released the now famous Cookie Puss 12" by the Beasties. In 1985, I had become disenchanted with New York in general and the music scene in particular. I closed down the shop and left all the remaining record dealings to Southern records. I moved to New Orleans and became a performing artist. My performances eventually carried me to Europe, where I now reside in Switzerland.

A few years ago, my interest in music was rekindled and the result of that interest, simply put, is that we are back!

come see us at www.ratcagerecords.com

We celebrate our re-entry by releasing three CD's:

MOTROXO THE RATCAGE BENEFIT - CBGB's 1982
On November 20th 1982, The BEASTIE BOYS, REAGAN YOUTH and THE YOUNG AND THE USELESS got together for the first night of a 2 day benefit held at CBGB for RATcage records. Bootleg copies of this concert have been circulating for years. Courtesy of the JAY DUBLEE COLLECTION, we now have the original tapes from the sound board and here offer all three sets played that evening on 1 CD. With this release we say good bye to the past, while remembering our dear friends, David Scilken and Dave Insurgent.

MOTR101 DAZE "Punk Blues"
Day-z Daze plays rock n roll electric ukulele through a Marshall stack. DAZE don't need no bass or drums!!!This 5 song amped-up maxi single includes a cover of the BAD BRAINS' BIG TAKEOVER.

MOTR102 DAZE "Little Tramp"
This time, Daze mixes acoustic folk, country blues, and psychedelia with a full blown hard rock send up of Smoke on the Water renamed here SMOKE ONE with all new lyrics and featuring the New York guitars of Bobby Steele (Undead) and the legendary Wild Bill Thompson (Senders).

The first 1000 copies of each of these discs are a special handmade edition with occasional extra surprises thrown in..
