WAMPUS MULTIMEDIA SIGNS AMATEUR GOD
|
Wampus Multimedia has signed Amateur God, an ambient-techno artist from Slovenia.
Imagine if David Lynch directed a postmodern remake of the classic film Frankenstein. Then imagine the sort of soundtrack he might choose -- ominous Transylvanian atmospherics designed to fill viewers with a deep and joyful sense of dread. With the soon-to-be-released Near Life Experience, Amateur God crosses the Atlantic with a collection so firmly rooted in the past that it becomes disturbingly relevant in the uncertain present. Near Life Experience hits store shelves in October.
Wampus is seeking not only to sign and produce new artists, but to market and distribute the existing work of artists seeking broader exposure. Wampus offers two programs to help artists reach their audience -- signature and affiliate.
Dedicated to the support and promotion of independent music, Wampus is home to Arms of Kismet, Kowtow Popof, Wampeters, and a growing roster of indie artists. Wampus recently purchased LocalMusicStore.com, a dominant online retailer in the indie CD market. The acquisition gives Wampus access to a targeted database of indie music enthusiasts -- the fans who care the most about independent music.

The Spot, Covent Garden, Monday 22 July
Menu will be playing an 'unplugged' set at The Spot on Monday 22nd July. This is a rare chance to see the band play a more relaxed and laid back set. Gone are the usual powered up electric guitars, to be replaced by the more mellow acoustic variety. Pipe and slippers are optional!
The Borderline, Manette Street (off Charing Cross Road), Sunday 4 August
Menu will be back to their usual rocking selves, headlining the Jimi Hendrix night at The Borderline on Sunday 4th August. Each band playing that night will be covering a Hendrix tune, and Menu will be playing the classic 'Stone Free'. Extended guitar solos are promised - in homage to the great man himself. However Stuart is yet to perfect playing the guitar with his teeth. But he'll keep practicing.......
Hotly tipped cambridge indie band The Dawn Parade, Already firm favourites with John Peel and Steve Lamaqc, release their "Electric fence your gentleness" EP on July 29. The EP is available in all good record stores, on Sugartown / Pinnacle Records, and has already been lauded by no less than Rolling Stone, who have the following to say: "For those who can't wait for the new Springsteen or Suede albums, may we reccommend The Dawn Parade's very excellent "Electric Fence Your Gentleness" EP... Note to UK labels: Sign this band NOW!"
The band are midway through their debut UK tour, with a spectacular gig for the Acorn Childrens Hospice in Worcester with Antihero, and a full stage invasion at London's Barfly cited as highlights, and leading the Guardian to praise the band's "hard-touring, anthemic rock'n'roll".
The Dawn Parade are looking forward to returning to London's Bull and Gate on August 3rd, and to a homecoming gig at The Cambridge Boat Race on Saturday August 10th.
