Affinity Music Library is proud to announce the release of the new progressive rock album, Aethellis.
Aethellis updates the classic progressive rock approach with punchy, contemporary rhythms and funky guitar. But the signature elements remain: virtuosity, silky synthesizers, passionate vocals, progressive song structures and electronic effects. The combination is a refreshing addition to the collection of progressive bands that have stretched the boundaries of rock.
Aethellis is the brainchild of keyboardist/vocalist/guitarist Ellsworth Hall. Ellsworth is veteran of several bands, most noteably Logos Affinity since the early 1980s. He also creates music and sound effects for multimedia, film and video projects and brings the drama of his soundtrack work to the music of Aethellis.
"Ellsworth Hall is an amazing multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. As a vocalist, he can be compared to the likes of Greg Lake and John Wetton. is music firmly lies somewhere between classic progressive rock and art rock camps. Although most of the compositions have a pop vibe to them, Ellsworth utilizes the longer song format to stay clear of being labeled mainstream." - Ron Fuchs, ProgNaut
"Aethellis developed a musical style where all the range in the compositions are around melancholy sounds of the keyboards; and all vocals are at times, very clean and very soft, other times, highly spiritual, elevating both kind of rock styles to a high level." - Carlos Alberto Vaz Ferreira, Progressive Rock Progessive Metal
"I have truly enjoyed listening to this album and will put it again in my player." - Marc Roy, ProGGnosis
The album is now on sale as a CD at CD Baby.com and Tower Records Online. The album will also be available shortly via digital distribution through CD Baby's partner online companies.
The official Aethellis website is at www.aethellis.com and includes sound samples in mp3 and RealAudio, a band bio, an interview, contact info and more

Apple Computer's phenomenal iTunes Music Store has added Northern Virginia teen band Self-Titled's album "Metro" to its roster of downloadable music for purchase. Initially started with hundreds of thousands of songs from the five major record labels, Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs has always promised that independent musicians would have a place in iTunes' roster.
As iTunes Music Store has passed the 30 million milestone of legally purchased songs online by Macintosh and Windows users, musical artists not signed up with the majors are finding themselves with equal footing in the promising new territory of legal internet distribution.
Self-Titled, a rock band from Woodbridge, Virginia, lacking a national reputation, has apparently scored a distribution coup by getting their submitted album "Metro"included with nothing going for them except talent and energy.
"Metro," self-published on Recurve Records, the band's own label, has up until now been sold almost entirely at Self-Titled concerts in the Washington area at small clubs, schools, billiard parlors, skate rinks, and anywhere else they can get in front of an audience. Some albums have also been sold via mail-order through cdbaby.com, an up-and-coming internet-based distributor. This is the first time the band‚s songs will be available to a potential audience of many millions of music buyers.
Derek Evry, age 17, is the lead singer and guitarist of the band. He has performed professionally since singing with the Children's Chorus at the Washington Opera Company at the age of eleven, and when the rest of the band is not available, is frequently seen singing and playing at Zigs Restaurant in Alexandria during Tuesday night open mics. He formed Self-Titled with bassist Will Huberdeau five years ago, and while some friends and schoolmates came and went, the group has settled with Derek, Will, and guitarist Ryan Gibbons and drummer Jason Rodriguez. Self-Titled offers hours worth of original compositions at concerts, all on a remarkably professional level.
"Metro" features eleven original tracks, created over a two year period at Neptune Studios in Occoquan, Virginia, under the auspices of recording engineer J. P. Maheu.
Short downloadable samples can be found at the iTunes Music Store (search for Self-Titled or Metro), or at the band's web site, http://www.self-titled.com.
