In a heaving, Milestone Beer House in Ipswich, I caught up with 'The Steve Linton Band' who provided me with stonking renditions of various artists including Radio Head, Jimmi Hendrix and the Beatles to name but a few.
This three-piece band have been together for ten years which gives the band an edge. Their performance ran smoothly and professionally without being tired or stale. They gig around East Anglia and are enjoying what they are doing. "I'm really happy with what I'm doing, I teach a lot." Steve said, " I feel fortunate that I can work and play what I enjoy."
Steve feels that he has not had it better than now, and describes it in his own words. "My best point, I would say is now. It's great being 42, no, no I mean 22 and living for the day."
The band is made up of Steve - lead vocals and guitar, Fred Binding - bass and best buddy, Justin Mitchel - drummer and worst enemy and Jake Williams - guitar and vocals. As described by Steve.
It was a great performance by Steve and his crew who really capture the audience. During the night, Ashley, a talented young drummer of just 17 was invited up to enjoy the spot light with "Jimmi Hendrix's, Purple Haze"
The whole evening was easy going and relaxed, even the antics of a young drunken lad was looked on in good humour. The chap in question was dancing somewhat enthusiastically and ended up falling into the mic stands in the process. A mate of his later managed to persuade him "It's time to go home." And on their departure, the audience broke out into cheers.
It was a great atmosphere, a great band and a great night!
