This isn't the first time I have written about the superb band Job Done and the more I hear their work the more I like it. I know the band are very committed and produce great original material and you can hear the workmanship within the CD. Their performance is complete, with thought put into every area of each song - you can really listen to it, you can enjoy it all, the lyrics and the musicians. It's this attention to detail that I particularly like about Job Done.

I find it a simple CD to listen to, it's uncluttered, clean and varied, and you can't put it in to a pigeon hole because each track is very different from the last. In an earlier review of a live gig, I mentioned that they played many styles of music, some which merge to create something a little different. On this CD, elements of The Shadows, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, Simon and Garfunkel can all be heard, along with the sounds of rock, country and folk. There is something for everyone and their live performance has an even wider range, which include reggae and pop.

Although this CD is great for humming along to while pottering about the house, or simply to chill out with, you can't beat 'em Live. I can't recommend you to go and see these guys enough, because they can definitely do it live and they can do it well. After all, the CD was recorded 'Live'! I know you won't be disappointed, and while you're there you can buy a CD to add to your collection.

What follows is an interview between KlubKat and Phil Ball of Job Done

KlubKat: Who does what in the band?
Phil: I am the singer/songwriter and lead guitarist, Chris Robin plays guitars, Bouzouki and Mandola, Chris Brimley plays bass and Paul Kent plays drums. Debbie Preston has recently joined as a fab new backing vocalist.
KlubKat: How long have you been together?
Phil: Approximately twelve and a half months.
KlubKat: Where are you based?
Phil: In and around Southeast Essex.
KlubKat: What area do you play?
Phil: We are building a local following, however, good local venues like club Riga's are few and far between. Therefore, anywhere!
KlubKat: How would you describe your music?
Phil: Melodic, rock based, with a hint of folk/country - but unique.
KlubKat: Who are your influences?
Phil: Dire Straits, Squeeze, Fairport Convention, Buddy Holly to name but a few.
KlubKat: How did you get together?
Phil:. Having moved to the Southeast, I met Chris Robin through work, who knew Chris Brimley, and we auditioned Paul and Joss.
KlubKat: Have you any interesting stories to share?
Phil: I suppose how I met Chris. I had just started working as a quality control manager for an engineering company. I was told that I had to go to a major customer's factory, to receive a "severe telling off" for some parts that were delivered, that had cost them thousands of pounds as they were all wrong! I was expecting the worst having been dragged into Chris's office, when I noticed a musician's union sticker on his desk, and thought this would be a good way to break the ice. The next three hours were spent talking about setting up a band! -He let me off.
KlubKat: Anything else you would like to add?
Phil: If you get the chance to see Job Done live, don't miss it for the world.
