We noticed that Spot were playing at Fat Pauly's, Norwich, and as it had been two years since we saw this powerful four piece punk band last we wondered what they were up to now.
So off we went, me thinking it would be very easy to spot them (no pun intended) for a pre-gig chat as I remembered their drummer having the distinction of being a wrestler! No such luck - he was nowhere to be seen. After some enquiries, however, we found our band and discovered the answer to the missing drummer: he had left the band to pursue a career in professional wrestling... and I would like to take this opportunity to wish him the best of luck.
So we had our band, and it was great to catch up with the lads. Bub founded the band around Five years ago and they are still going strong today. Jamie, the newest member of the band, has only been with Spot for a little over half a year and was thrown in at the deep end - originally approached in the street, it was soon discovered that he was free to be their new drummer.

Jamie has had problems in the past settling in with other bands, but has found things have worked out well with Spot and he loves it.
Bub was originally in a band called 'Split' and found himself touring with them for a while, but that band fell apart and Bub started his own. The only problem was that he couldn't find any guitarists, so he took up the instrument himself. Having started the band Spot for a laugh, gigging around pubs with his mates, Bub discovered after a while that people really liked their music. Following the departure of both the bass player and the drummer, the whole band had to be rebuilt, and about three years ago they started to take the band more seriously. Gigging with their old material while also introducing new songs, Spot went into Purple Studios to burn a CD - they are now trying to break out of Norwich, and have got themselves a manager. Recently the band have even been involved with a compilation CD produced by Noisebox, which is another step in the right direction - and they are hoping to go on tour this year after plans with Terrorvision unfortunately fell through. At this moment, a small label is interested in Spot's work and is planning to put out an album.

The line up currently stands as Bub Thunder and Gav on guitar, Jamie on drums, Chris Mo on bass. Bub also manages to do vocals and write lyrics! It would appear that a lot has taken place in the psyche of this band over the last two years since we last saw them. Bub has set aside the next six years to push the band forward as much as he can until he's thirty and then he plans to call it a day.

Spot have in the past supported Feeder, Llama Farmers and the Jellies. They've got themselves together and have put down some solid plans for the future. As long as the band continues being a strong unit, I think things can only start happening.
Why don't you check out their music files at www.britishspotexperiment.com and see what you think?
Good luck, lads. Keep us informed of what's happening...
