By Misty and The Adder, August 2002

We receive a lot of music for review at KlubKat, covering the whole spectrum from fantastic to terrible and every genre from Heavy Metal to Country, but it isn't every day that we get something which we could actually imagine hearing on the radio. Aeon Spoke surprises us in this respect.

We see a lot of potential here - clearly these guys has what it takes to make it in the big wide world of modern music, all they need is support from more corners of the world!

Paul Masvidal provides the guitars and vocals here, while Sean Reinert provides percussion and drums. Pauls voice has to be one of the best we've heard in a while. The music has a sort of Indieish feel, although somehow remains hard to categorise as it has a tendency to change style a little between tracks - this is not a bad thing, unless of course they intend to sound the same all the time which we doubt! The overall sound is professional, and with a little more of a hook it could be perfect.

The three tracks we listened to on the demo CD were "No Answers", "Ghostland" and "Nothing". Of these, Ghostland was our favourite, providing atmosphere and drawing us in. The guitarwork here is absolutely bloody fantastic, which leads us to believe that Aeon Spoke would be something really special live - it's always hard to judge from a sterile CD.

Originally comprising the band Cynic, Paul and Sean played in many European countries before going their separate ways and finally reforming as Aeon Spoke (You'll have to find out what the name means yourself!) - so it should be clear to anyone that this is a band with enough background in music to provide us with some serious listening pleasure.

There is definitely an audience for this in the modern world. You can currently check the band out on their band site at www.aeonspoke.net, although the official site at www.aeonspoke.com promises to be up soon. In fact, the only problem we had with this review was checking out the fan site - those background images are big, guys - most people in the UK do not have broadband, and we had to wait quite a while for them to load...
