Promotional article, July 2000

The following is a promotional article for the newly released CD 'Ltd Edition', which is a showcase of new talent from the Peterborough area. We wouldn't normally print promotional material in our articles section, but we thought this was a well-justified exception to the rule as the CD is an excellent way of publicising local talent - why don't more people in different parts of the country follow this lead?

We are all at least a little depressed that England did not make it through to the quarter final of the European Cup. But other things do matter and music is important to a wide number of people. There is a huge audience out there for the sort of music represented by the 'ltd edition' CD. AND this story will go on long after the football is finished.

This CD is a limited edition. So it will be a collector's item. We are sure at least some of these band's will go on to become FAMOUS.

A SHORT HISTORY: Jody Copestake became involved with Chekira, one of the bands on the CD and by trying to help with their management, became aware of how difficult it was for Peterborough bands to get a foothold in the music business. So she started LaZee… PromoZ, her idea to provide an entity through which bands could find support and advice, and help with promotion and publicity. Initially this was in an internet environment, facilitated by www.peterborough.net, the local Community Website. However, it was soon obvious that more was needed.

Jody's enthusiasm was infectious. She had already persuaded www.peterborough.net of the validity of her cause. Dna Records and the Metropolis Lounge then joined in and the idea of the CD was germinated. Much hard work, tearing of hair and gnashing of teeth later ...... and the CD was produced. The 13 track CD features local artists solely from Peterborough and is a showcase of local talent. The CD track list is as follows:

01) Beever - Weird Year
02) Blue - Making Waves
03) Chekira - How to Save Your Life
04) De Atocha - Feeling You
05) Dirty Toys - Consent
06) Flatfield - Evo Fist
07) Fox Force Five - Chew It Up
08) Kinch - Cooler
09) King Cow - Down
10) Kraynium - Unjustified Meat Content [We're not sure about this one - the track listing on the CD KlubKat has been given lists this track as "Justified Meat Content" - Ed]
11) Mary's Cat - Disease
12) Selah - Intense
13) Zilch - Living in a Box

The CD has a great variety of musical tastes ranging from dance, death metal, pop punk, indie, Scatty punk. Mod rock, pop rock and more.

It is a masterpiece of artistical musical talent from local bands in the Peterborough area and definitely worth a shout!
