We caught up with Deb's, at The New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich where she was launching her independent career. KlubKat have seen Deb's Warren perform before with the band 'Grandma's Bike' but this was the first time we have seen her going solo with all her own material.

Deb's provided us with a powerful solid performance not just with her voice but also with her guitar work and image. Her material reminds me of Tracy Chapman, singing about life with it's up's and downs. It's this I find most appealing; you soon find yourself easily relating to her and warming to her personality. She has a good relationship with her audience. I found her live performance mellow and moody, with more than just a hint of Sade.

Debs could be found in her first band in 1987 when she was just 16, playing the saxophone in the band Grab Harry. The band with their original material always went down well in the four years they reigned. Debs is still the lead singer/Sax player of the four-piece covers band 'Grandma's Bike' but there appears to be more to the talented Debs Warren than we first realised. Debs can also play viola and clarinet and has written woodwind sections for a musical and appears to have had fingers in all sorts of pies.

Until recently Debs has been a bit of a closet writer, but with the help and support of her friends, she has become more public, in February 2001 she made the decision to go professional and gave up her regular job. Since then Debs seems to have taken her career with both hands and is going for it. She has created her own independent record label, Bluecat Records and has released a 12 track CD titled "Indigo". A manager has also been appointed to help push her forward. She has successfully surrounded herself with talented musicians and has only a bright future to look forward too.

Debs and her band have just been in the studio recording a 4-track demo. The tracks have been recorded mostly live to get that performance feel. It took just 14 hours to complete, and it has come out so well that Debs has dubbed it, "the first leg of the next album." So we have more to look forward too.
