An unusual name for a band with an original mix of Jazz styles, which is introduced as something a bit different.
The Milestone Jazz Club has been run for over three years by Dave Ingham and Steven Mynoth on the first Sunday Evening of every month, at 'The Marquis of Lorne' in Lowestoft.
Previously known as The Boomerang Allstars, they decided to change their name to The Herbert Spliffington Allstars - to create interest, and lets face it, it does that (It's not a name that you will forget in a hurry either!). The Spliffingtons have been together for fifteen years and have a strong, Jamaican root heritage which is very apparent in their music. They have an original mix of modern jazz, reggae, ska and calypso. Certainly they are something different from the norm.
The band is made up of Pete Beresford on keyboard, bandleader Sarah Bristow (who is also a member of the band Heaving Cleavages) on Saxophone, Satch Dixon on vocals and percussion, Tony Uter on Percussion, Robert Masters on drums and not forgetting Kevin Willoughby on bass.
They can be seen playing in Wales, East Anglia and of course London. We all have an awareness of where our music is coming from and all love what we do, and play authentically."
The band has plans to go international and are starting with Ireland because "The music atmosphere is good there and music is a vital daily occurrence. We will go and spread the message."
