Saturday 12th May - Fiddlers Elbow, Peterborough
Since the shocking break up of last year's battle of the bands semi-finalists Kinch, Miles and Stu reformed into newcomers Indigo who GIMP finally caught up with.
Indigo formed 3 months ago and the name came about from the band decision of calling themselves after a colour. After they had gone through various reds, pinks and blues this was the name which set about. You might know Stu (guitarist) and Miles (drummer) from the ashes of Kinch who have set upon Neil (bass) and Jo (vocals) to join them in their next conquest.
Supporting Indigo on this sticky evening first of all were Tweak, which meant Neil had his work cut out for him. With Neil - Guitar/Vocals, Andrew - Bass and Jon - Drums Tweak kicked into submission with an original edge which followed through-out the set. They had some real catchy riffs and interesting songs like "who wants to be a millionaire" and "butterfly". The band showed strength through some vivacious drumming, powerful electrifying guitar riffs mixed into some real influential vocals and meaty bass that suped up the depth through this ryhmical ride!
Unfortunately due to Indigo not starting till 11.10 we only got to see 3 of their songs. Indigo started their set with one of their own little numbers. This light hearted indie-rock sound was a pleasant surprise via some real soothing bass lines entwined with capturing guitar riffs and some heart felt vocals. The band really looked the part and seem to stick well together. It was nice to see a female fronted band, something of a rarity in Peterborough. Indigo covered old Kinch song Cooler (which was on the Ltd Edition CD) which had a nice new edge to it this time with a female vocalist taking the song to newer heights. Jo gives the band more flare and get up and go with her unique edge.
