Jelly frog bright, strange name? It came from a dream, a dream that Simon's mum had. She dreamt that Simon was in a really successful band and they band was called 'Jelly Frog Bright'.
Well after that amazing introduction I'll tell you a bit about the band. Jelly frog bright is made up of four individual people who got sick and tired of doing covers in other bands. It all started when Erica Nicholls and Simon Cockerel got together and played a few tunes. Now they are a four piece band made up of Eric (Vocals), Simon (Guitarist), Tony (Bass) and Jel (Drums).
The style of music Jelly Frog Bright play tends to be Grunge rock. Influences including: Garbage, Smashing Pumpkins and Dire Straits. Well they played their first gig at the May KlubKat Jam Nite as Jelly Frog Bright now looking to enjoy further gigs (no doubt they will).
Of course as such a young band this is not their only career in life.
Eric is a Student, Jel is into dangerous sports and works with computers, Simon is an engineer and Tony spends most of his life in an operating theatre as a nurse.
Their most successful moment? This article of course and having the pleasure of the company of the Kats of KlubKat to interview them. Oh and then there's the CD, which I'm sure they'll be pleased to sell to you at one of their gigs so see when they're next about (shortly if I'm anything to do with it).
Even though Jelly Frog Bright are a young band they have still a comical disaster, in this case a very expensive one. Promotion every band needs it, well Eric did it in style she was put in charge of get one hundred pounds worth of photocopies of photos of the bands to send to record companies, except they didn't quite get to the record companies. All the copies were neatly placed on the roof of the car (Bet you can't guess what happened next). Hundreds of these photocopies trailing down the A12 as she drove home. So if you happen to find a picture of these four lying around near the A12 you know what's happened, keep it you never know they may be the next big thing!
