Tomorrow we will run faster - CD/LP Southern 1855G1
I greatly anticipated this LP after picking up their split 7" with 'A minor forest', and when finally it arrived I put stylus to wax and for the first couple of minutes felt a little let down. But fear not, because it rapidly gets very good indeed.
This group come from the currently fertile city of Chicago and have not unfairly been compared to "Fugazi". The music press are currently tipping them for better things.
The "Fugazi" comparison only holds to a point, though. This lot are more post rock, with well executed mid stream changes, a very tight group dynamic and fitting Saxophone from vocalist Steven.
The rapid changes are not of the mighty "Naked City" variety, however. They are more within the context of a given song. Also, this group knows how to punctuate their flow with well measured bursts of silence which they evidently use to great effect.
All in all, a worthy debut LP and ideal for the rock or metal fan who is sick of those samey old stodge rockers churning out the same old! So why not try something new from this cool crew?
It won't hurt. Honest.
