Synergy have only been together for 6 months and gig around the Lowestoft (Suffolk) area. They originally were a three piece band starting with just Rob and John with Andy joining to complete the original set.

The band now consists of Rob - vocals/rhythm guitar, Chris - bass, John - lead guitar/backing vocals and Andy - drums and they play covers from the 60's to 90's.

Andy joining the band could be considered as 'fate'. As John was walking down the street, he was talking about how they needed a drummer. Andy, who was walking by, over heard this and introduced himself as a drummer. Fluky huh!

They also got through two bass guitarists before settling on Chris, who they discovered at a school open evening. This completes the line up they have today, which, when I heard them, they had just been together for two weeks.

I do have opinions of cover bands. Firstly, it's fairly easy to set up a cover band. A lot of the groundwork has been done and it should be easy to get an audience going, for the songs are already familiar to them. However secondly, at the same time it's very hard, because everyone is comparing the songs to the originals.

So yes, there's the advantage, those punters will recognise the songs but they will hate it, if their favourite track is slated. Therefore, it can be a very fine line to tread!

They have been together for such a short time they inevitably fail on some songs but this band has the benefit of a mature (22 year old) vocalist who has a nice distinctive voice. If they brush up on their act and take out the songs that don't suit them, they could move from an average band to a good band or even perhaps a great one.
