We went down to Fat Pauly's to see Pink Fraud before interviewing them. We found that Pink Fraud is not the usual sort of covers band as they not only sounded like Pink Floyd, they also looked very similar. The lighting was really cool and they sounded exceptional that night. They brought a special sort of atmosphere to Fat Pauly's, which left the audience in awe.
Pink Fraud were great fun to interview, they all have a very laid back attitude to life. The seven piece band is made up of Pete, guitar and vocals; Tony on bass, vocals and Special FX; Rus on keyboards and vocals; Sam, percussion and Special FX; Lynda who does backing vocals and bass; Terri on backing vocals and Phil who plays the sax.
Pink Fraud started as a just for fun sort of a thing to do, until they realised that they were actually quite good, so they decided to play as Pink Fraud. The band takes their work very seriously, not just by looking similar but they even use the same sort of gear.
Pink Fraud have been together for three and a half years now and come from all over the country. When I asked them why Floyd? Rus answered, 'It's the thrill of achieving a highly complex piece of music in honour of a great album'.
All the members of Pink Fraud jumped in eagerly to answer the 'What was Pink Frauds most successful moment?' question. They all agreed that it was the enjoyment of playing at the Boat Race, Cambridge when playing in front of a load of Pink Floyd fans. However, I think that the night that they played at Fat Pauly's, all the Pink Floyd fans of Norwich were in awe to watch and hear this band play. I have never seen so many people sitting on the floor to take in the atmosphere as that which Pink Fraud brought to Fat Pauly's.
Like every band with the success there are the disasters, usually highly amusing. Well, this time it was on Radio, when Lynda said instead of: 'Shine on u Crazy Diamond' it came out as:'Crane on you shisy Diamond' (Oooopps!). A really cool band to see and to interview.
I was later informed after the interview that Pink Fraud fans were phoning up to ask for them back, something which has never happened before. So I will be the first to tell you that your wish has come true and they are back again at Fat Pauly's on the 23rd of this month £6 in advance. You just have to go. Good luck guys!
