I've been hearing lots about the movement of Powder Monkey rocking around Norwich, and so I decided, that perhaps it was time to see them.
When I first turned up to the venue, Powder Monkey were sound checking, I was instantly impressed with the togetherness of the band.
The empty venue began to fill and Shannon their vocalist introduced themselves and they were away, boy did I miss my ear plugs! Mind you I was sat right next to the speakers (opps). This is one of the most fun bands that I've seen on such a small stage.
After the Screeching guitars and the melodic vocals, I found out that this five piece band based in Norwich and London have only been going for four months. But as Gary, the guitarist and backing vocalist puts it they're "loud, cool and rockin'".
To give you a better idea of the sort of music that they play their influences include: Black Crowes, Pearl Jam and... Prince? To think that the band all happened because once upon a time, Gary's little brother couldn't make it to one of his guitar lessons and Gary went instead.
