The fact that 'A' Remain Perched on the Clasp of superstardom amongst the 'big' hair and big shorts fraternity remains a mystery to me. All that may change with the release of this, the long awaited follow up to the frenetic 'How Ace Are Buildings'.
Jason Perry and co. rarely pause to remove their tongues from their cheeks, and the sunny beach boys style harmonies of the autobiographical 'A' suprises with a subtlety rarely seen from the boys, especially when the brain busting onslaught of 'For Starters' and title track ' Monkey Kong' precede it.
There are so many gems on Monkey Kong it both surprises and pleases at the same time. It's the perfect summer album, packed with potential singles and loony tunes of the highest order. Jason Perry even has the cheek to laugh at Jane's Addition comparisons he's suffered throughout his career with the sublime 'Jason's addiction'. Someone told me that Monkey Kong shared producers with The Offspring's 'Americana'. Believe me 'A' are better and will be huge - and Norwich City will win promotion this year (if there's any justice).
